Same same, but different

ROSES.

That’s what I wanted to talk about VERY BRIEFLY today. All of a sudden, weddings are back, and it has been rather busy! I am not complaining about how busy I am at the moment, though! It’s such a nice feeling that we can finally do our job after a long wait.

Roses are vital flowers when it comes to weddings. They are the symbol of love! They are, needless to say, beautiful, available all year round, come in all sorts of different colours and shapes and often have a gorgeous scent.

There are standard roses that you see in flower shops and supermarkets (I must mention that supermarket roses are not the same quality as florists’ at all). And there are special roses that I often order especially for weddings whenever available. Here are some of my favourite roses…

These are called Keira and they open up beautifully.

Majolika spray roses and they have beautiful soft creamy tones I love. They open really quickly.

Quicksand - my staple! I buy them too often, although I try not to… When there’s a “ blush pink” in the brief, these are often in my shopping list.

Toffee. Literally toffee colour and super long lasting.

Cafe latte. Very expensive but gorgeous! This picture was taken on the day I bought them, so they are still tight, but in 2-3 days they become the most beautiful things!

White O’hara. Again, they don’t look much on day 1. Wait until they open up…( you can google it and see how they look when they are open) they have such a gorgeous scent too. I can go on and on, but I will stop here for now. Although these roses cost us 2, 3, 4 times more than standard roses, they are totally worth it. They aren’t always available, but summer is generally a good season for these. The only minor problem I have with these gorgeous roses is… they are such a distraction! While they are opening up in my studio, I go and smell them or take (many) photos of them when I am supposed to be replying to emails or writing proposals. I guess that’s not a bag thing, right?
