Weddings are back!

It seems like such a long time since we were busy with events and weddings. Between lockdowns last year, I did a few small weddings with between 15 and 30 guests, but even that disappeared after December.

I won’t lie - for a florist whose main work is weddings, it has been really difficult! The same goes for hair & make up artists, photographers, caterers and all those in wedding industries.

I really feel for the couples who have had to change their dates, not only once, but 3-4 times! But… It looks like we are finally heading into a mega-busy wedding season (keeping everything crossed).

To kick start the 2021 wedding season, I was so pleased to be the florist for two lovely couples in late May. Both couples got married at the beautiful Nonsuch Mansion, Cheam, Surrey.

Although the guest numbers were still limited to 30, they had the best day!

On 26th May, Amelia and Jack tied the knot. Their flowers were mainly in white, peach and coral. I used gorgeous coral charm peonies, sweet peas, scented stocks, delicate astilbe and other beautiful flowers including cow parsley - the room was filled with wonderful smells.

Two days later, Amy and Will had an intimate wedding with their close family members. Their colour palette was a mixture of pastels, mainly in pinks and lilacs. I used sweet peas, peonies, nigella, delphinium and lots of different varieties of dainty flowers. They gave the room such a soft, romantic feel and again, the scent was incredible.

I was so happy that they finally got married, and they were both really pleased with the flowers… Every single time there’s that worry…”What if they didn’t like the flowers?” I wonder if that stress ever goes away?

We have just come back from a lovely family holiday in Yorkshire,  and I feel I am ready for a busy season more than ever.

Bring it on!
